Service Description

This bookmaking series will include a brief history of books styles of books. You will learn about different kinds of paper and which is best to use for what you intend to do with the book. You will also have the bonus of an anatomy lesson as part of the series…the anatomy of a book :-) You will make three different styles of book binding: Perfect Binding, Japanese Stab Binding, and a Stitch Binding. Making your own book, like growing your own garden, creates a sense of awareness and value to the resources we use and how we use them. Most of the resources used to make these books are from items that have already had a first life or were destined for the curb (whether it be for recycling or the landfill). You have the opportunity to give these items a second life as an item that will help record your life in the form of a journal or sketchbook. You may sign up for all of them or just a few. Of course, it costs less if you commit to all of them. There is a bonus Free Studio Session for those who sign up for all of the workshops. (Posted at the end of the listed sessions). We strive to be a Zero Waste studio and the bonus session is our gift to you for helping reduce, reuse, upcycle.
